About Us

We didn't set out to start a soap company.

At 46, our founder Sarah noticed something had changed. Not dramatically - just quietly, persistently wrong. Her deodorant stopped lasting. Her gym clothes smelled strange even after washing. Her pillowcase had a musky quality she couldn't explain.

She did what most women do: switched deodorants. Then switched again. Tried clinical strength, then men's formulas. Washed her sheets more. Wondered if she was losing her mind.

She wasn't.

What nobody told her - or you - is that after 40, your skin begins producing more 2-nonenal. It's an oil-based compound tied to hormonal shifts and aging. It oxidizes on contact with air and creates a distinct smell that isn't regular body odor. And because it's oil-based, water-based soap can't touch it. Deodorant can't touch it either - it was never designed to.

The entire deodorant industry has been selling you a stronger version of the wrong answer.

Sarah found kakishibu - Japanese persimmon tannin - through a 2am Reddit thread full of women describing her exact experience. Persimmon tannins bind directly to nonenal molecules at the molecular level. Japanese researchers confirmed this in the 1990s. It's a 400-year-old craft that turned out to be the most precise solution to a problem modern science had only recently named.

She couldn't find a version she trusted. So she made one.

Kivori exists for one reason: to give you the honest answer, not the easy one.

Not a stronger deodorant. Not a new fragrance. A targeted solution to the actual compound causing the actual problem - formulated gently enough for skin that's changing, and made with ingredients that do what they say.

12,583 women have found it. Most of them at 2am, typing something into Google they were too embarrassed to say out loud.

We're glad they did.

Kivori - rooted in Japanese persimmon tradition. Built for the modern woman navigating her 40s with honesty.
